What is the United Sommeliers Foundation?

The United Sommeliers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization aimed at helping wine processionals.  

The United Sommeliers Foundation supports and strengthens the sommelier community by providing professional and personal resources & emergency financial aid.

How does the Foundation award applicants?

Our board members vote blindly on all applications. Information presented to the board passes through a scoring system to rank the most immediate cases.

Who qualifies for an award?

  • Someone that identifies as a sommelier

  • Someone who performs the roles and tasks of a sommelier

  • Someone whose primary job is serving wine

  • Someone who works in a hospitality environment where they are engaged in the recommendation of wines to buyers.

Where can I apply for funding?

We ask that you follow this link to apply. We will work quickly to review your submission and will reach out during or after our decision making process. Please know that we will be reviewing every application, but not every applicant may receive a grant. All applicants must live and work in the U.S. to qualify for funding.

Who does the Foundation help?

The Foundation awards provides financial assistance to Sommeliers who are experiencing an unpredicted pause in employment. The USF awards emergency based grants and individual need based grants.
